Do you know Schizochytrium sp ?

It is a 100% sustainable strain of microalgae cultivated by Fermentalg to produce naturally concentrated algae-based omega-3.

This marine microalgae is a nutritional powerhouse, naturally rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an essential omega-3 fatty acid for brain, heart, and cardiovascular health.

You think this microalgae is reserved for human consumption? Think again! It is also used in animal feed to enrich animal diets with essential nutrients.

Thanks to the natural ability of these cells to duplicate themselves, a single specimen taken from the wild is enough to produce DHA-rich oils indefinitely.

Once and for all, Fermentalg has harvested from a mangrove a strain of microalgae (micro-organism) capable of synthesizing the highest natural DHA content on the market. With no impact on the biosphere, this sustainable, non-GMO resource makes it possible to supply oils naturally rich in omega 3 all year round, with full traceability from microalgae to barrel.

This strain of microalgae produces a crude oil rich in natural omega 3s, and thanks to a respectful process involving minimal refining, which eliminates the need for complex chemistry, our refined algal oils have excellent organoleptic properties.

 

A sustainable and innovative production process

Selection

Identification and selection of high-potential microalgae strains, such as Schizochytrium sp., cultivated under sterile, fully controlled conditions.

Fermentation culture

Selected micro-organisms are grown in bioreactors, where they develop and multiply thanks to an optimized culture medium. This is where the magic happens, with particular attention paid to temperature, oxygen and other parameters to promote optimal growth.

The use of fermenters for algae production offers numerous advantages in terms of productivity, control, quality and process standardization. Fermentation makes it possible to produce large volumes without extensive land use.

Extraction

The molecules of interest contained in these micro-organisms are extracted via chemistry-free processes. These various active ingredients, depending on the strain of microalgae used, enable us to offer ingredients ranging from omega-3 fatty acids to natural pigments and plant proteins.
