Epax®, a guarantee of quality
Oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids are naturally sensitive to oxidation, which can alter both their nutritional value and sensory characteristics.
Epax® implements strict quality controls from the raw material stage to ensure maximum stability, taste, and digestibility of its omega-3 oils.
Protecting oils against this phenomenon begins at the extraction stage. Facilitated by the vertical integration of supplies, Epax® imposes strict logistical specifications on raw materials:
- Controlled temperatures and oxygen levels (<1%) during refining stabilize the oils.
- The levels of oil oxidation products, peroxide and anisidine indexes, are well below the set standards.
- TOTOX, the global oxidation index, is below 10, compared with the GOED (Global Organization for EPA and DHA) limit of 25.
The result is an ultra-purified, deodorized oil guaranteeing better taste and digestion.

In 2010, our partner launched its first official environmental management policy, Epax® EcoVision. This three parts approach to sustainable and ethical business incorporates ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) concepts and includes commitments to:
- Sustainability: raw oil comes only from fisheries managed in accordance with the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries. Epax® makes it a point of honor to comply strictly with fishing regulations and to use environmentally-friendly production methods.
- Traceability: knowing where and by whom our natural resources are harvested
- Accountability: to our employees and our community, with third-party audits of our products and processes to ensure that we act responsibly and meet our obligations.
Since our partner developed Epax® EcoVision, sustainability has become a more comprehensive concept, especially since the formulation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 as a plan to overcome major global challenges.
